The most crucial task was to restore electrical power to the sites in order for them to begin pumping fuel to the residents and business that needed it desperately in the aftermath of the storm.

In addition to providing temporary generator power, Daniel construction crews helped with basic restoration of the sites when necessary so they were safe for the employees and customers. This included canopy repairs and store repairs inside and out. Many sites were back on-line within only a few hours of losing power due to the storm.

Crews worked almost around the clock for days at Pilot Travel Centers, Travel Centers of America, and Petro Travel Centers from Orange west to Houston. Once permanent power was again available, electrical crews took stores off of the temporary generator power and repaired electrical equipment and fixtures damaged during the storm.

These efforts helped provide millions of gallons of needed fuel to the area that could have otherwise been unavailable. Crews are expected to remain in the area for 4 weeks. This is the fourth time since Hurricane Katrina in 2005 that Daniel Utility has worked with businesses as a first responder to a devastating natural disaster in the Gulf States region.

Daniel Utility Construction, Inc. is a telecommunications, electrical, and general contractor operating primarily in the South Central Region of the United States. Mobilizes for Hurricane Gustav http://www.danielutility.com/daniel-utility-construction-inc-mobilizes-for-hurricane-gustav/
August 31, 2008 - Ponchatoula, LA - Daniel Utility Construction, Inc. was called into action immediately after Hurricane Gustav’s devastating affects were realized. Goals were to provide temporary power to commercial travel centers and to restore communication systems in the Louisiana parishes so adversely affected by the storm.

Some of the first actions taken were to provide temporary power to Pilot Travel Centers and Petro Travel Centers in South Louisiana. Daniel electrical crews used temporary emergency power to restore fuel pumps to operational capability so diesel and gasoline could flow for thousands of customers anxious to power their vehicles and personal generators. Once electricity was restored, crews took the generators off-line and restored permanent power to the businesses. Remodeling crews also aided in restoring the stores inside and out to prepare them for business and to make the property safe for employees and customers alike.

At the same time, communications assessment crews were dispatched into various sections of Charter Communications’ 8,000 mile cable television system to determine where it was damaged and the repairs necessary. A team of almost 100 linemen, fiber and coax splicers, and supervisors were then dispatched to begin restoration. Areas that were hardest hit included Tibideau, Livingston, and New Roads, LA. Charter Communications provides video, voice, and data packages to many parishes thoughout South Louisiana.

This is the third time Daniel Utility crews have been first responders to hurricanes in the region having also assisted with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita reparations in 2005. Crews are expected to be in the area for approximately 6 weeks completing these urgent telecommunications and electrical repairs.

Daniel Utility Construction, Inc. is a telecommunications, electrical, and general contractor operating primarily in the South Central Region of the United States.
